Après l'animation du Tour de France où les Lions ont servi un milier de repas au profit de leurs actions de solidarité, voici qu'arrive la traditionelle fête des vins et de la solidarité ...., la 29è !

Autant dire que le partenariat entre Lions et commune de Lalinde est particulièrement actif et dynamique pour une double raison que résume son maire - Christian Bourier - dans un entretien avec le président du Lions Club des Bastides du Périgord - Wim Depondt : "le but est avant tout caritatif' et la "Fête du Vin et de la Solidarité" est une manifestation majeure à Lalinde, reconnue et très fréquentée.

Alors ... venez faire la fête avec nous pour agir dans l'intérêt de ceux qui rencontrent des difficultés ...

The solidarity is the finalist of our Wine Festival

What does it mean to you, how does it translate in your daily life with your action, and how do you join into this scheme ?

Christian Bourrier : For me it is essential, even if, as the local collectivity, we cannot act directly, since this competence has been transferred to the Communauté de communes via the Centre Intercommunal d’Action Sociale. But nevertheless, we can still act in different ways :

• Thanks to our listening and our knowledge of our population, we can locate difficult situations, particularly by means of the schools and inform the structures concerned; our elected are attentive and personally act with elderly persons, families or young people needing help.
• Our logistic support for associations as yours whose sole target is of charitable character, such as the 1st of May flower market and your Wine Festival and solidarity, which are amongst our most important manifestations in Lalinde, well known and well attended.

Wim Depondt : As you mention, the solidarity is the maître mot of our actions. All our profits of all our manifestations we organize are entirely submitted to actions of solidarity. And for us, this festival is an occasion to make known these actions, as they are very little made known to the public.

We mention some in this newsletter, but one has to know that we act in several different domains, the health (cancer research), the handicap (particularly for blind and deaf persons), families in need (holidays for children, material help. Apprentice financial help for 6 apprentices every year), and help for retired people (support of retiring homes). All this is possible due to the mobilisation of the members of the club and their conjoints, all year round, and the voluntary helpers who help us during the 3 days of the Wine Festival.

Christian Bourrier : Further to be motivated by solidarity, your Wine Festival in August has several advantages :

• It is perfectly organized and never any problems occur.
• It reunites products of high quality, and I personally take advantage every year to make several purchases.
• It attracts at lot of public and the environment can profit from it.

Wim Depondt : yes, that is true, and I feel like telling everybody: Profit of it, everybody in his own environment, keep the crowd and take advantage of it.
